Fearless by Max Lucado
Yet another great read from Max Lucado. Perfect for the things we are facing today that cause us to fear (i.e. layoffs at work, slow downs in the economy, down turns in the housing market, etc).
This book gives you some great practical ways to deal with the fears in your life. Written in an easy to follow, entertaining format that will keep the attention of any who want to live their life without fear.
Here are a few of the great things I took away from this book:
"It's not the absence of the storms that sets us apart. It's whom we discover in the storm: and unstirred Christ."
"Fear itself is not a sin. But it can lead to sin."
"Why does He love you so much? The same reason the artist loves his paintings or the boat builder loves his vessels. You are his idea. And God has only good ideas."
"Fear mismanaged, leads to sin. Sin leads to hiding. Since we've all sinned, we all hide, not in bushes, but in eighty-hour workweeks, temper tantrums, and religious busyness. We avoid contact with God. We are convinced that God must hate our evil tendencies."
Be fearless by being peaceful:
P - Pray first
E - Easy now
A - Act on it
C - Compile a worry list
E - Evaluate your worry categories
F - Focus on today
U - Unleash the worry army
L - Let God be enough
"Whether or not storms come, we cannot choose. But where we stare during a storm, that we can."
"Feed your fears, and your faith will starve. Feed your faith, and your fears will."

Heaven is the Face Single
Beauty Will Rise is a collection of 12 new and profound songs from Steven Curtis Chapman. Created in the past 18 months in the walk through the darkness of the loss of his daughter Maria, and while God continues to meet him there on the journey. Part lament, part praise, part grief, part hope, part wrestling, part pondering; these tracks resonate as Steven’s personal Psalms. It is a desperately hopeful, raw, personal, and honest recording that is likely the most important of his already incredible 20 plus year ministry.
“Heaven Is The Face” is the first single serviced to Christian radio, and available as physical single in advance of the album, which releases on November 3rd.

Publishers Weekly, Review
Miller, the accidental memoirist who struck gold with the likable ramble Blue Like Jazz, writes about the challenges inherent in getting unstuck creatively and spiritually. After Jazz sold more than a million copies but his other books didn’t follow suit, he had a classic case of writer’s block. Two movie producers contacted him about creating a film out of his life, but Miller’s initial enthusiasm was dampened when they concluded that his real life needed doctoring lest it be too directionless for the screen. Real stories, he learned, require characters who suffer and overcome. In desultory fashion, Miller sets out to change his own life—to be the kind of guy who seeks out his father, chases the girl and undertakes a quest. Along the way, he comes to understand God as a master storyteller who doesn’t quite control where his characters are going. An unexpected bonus of this book is Miller’s insights into the writing process. Readers who loved Blue Like Jazz will find here a somewhat more mature Miller, still funny as hell but more concerned about making a difference in the world than in merely commenting on it. (Oct. 2009)
Full of beautiful, heart-wrenching, and hilarious stories, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years details one man's opportunity to edit his life as if he were a character in a movie.

Well-Known Actors Lead Set Apart
When you hear the names of successful actors, a certain key role usually comes to mind. For example, Richard Roundtree will always be associated with Shaft. For John Schneider, it's The Dukes of Hazzard. And for Jennifer O'Neill, it's her role in The Summer of '42.
Now, all three of these accomplished actors can be seen in a new movie coming to DVD on September 22, Set Apart. They were drawn in by the powerful, inspirational message of the script, which is based on real ministries run by brothers Randy and John Gunn.
"All the actors seemed truly appreciative to be part of the movie," says Randy Gunn, who plays himself in the movie. "They were all very professional and we learned quite a bit about the dos and don'ts of acting."
Meet the Cast
A Movie with a Purpose
So how do real-life ministries become a movie? Brad Wilson of Hemisphere Productions heard Randy and Heidi Gunn perform with their band GunnPoint at a Christian music festival. Hemisphere had just launched a new production arm called Power In Faith that was looking for ideas for great faith-based films.
After learning more about GunnPoint and its familial connection to the Power Company Kids Club, Power In Faith was intrigued. The potential for a film about the interaction of these two remarkable ministries could provide the material needed for an exciting and inspiring family film.
"The story they wanted to tell involved taking some troubled kids from the inner city and having us teach them the 'Cowboy Way,'" Randy says. "I told them about my brother John's ministry—the Power Company Kids Club—and what they do in the inner city."
From there, George Flynn, who has served with Randy and Heidi Gunn for years, wrote the script that became Set Apart. Now, the work of both ministries is about to be highlighted to movie fans everywhere!
Award-Winning Film In Stores September 22
In addition to receiving the Dove Foundation's highest family-approved rating (Five Doves), Set Apart earned the Best Drama award at the 2009 Creation Arts Festival! (By the way, Alex Kendrick won the festival's best director award for FIREPROOF.) Next month, you will be able to discover this film firsthand!
You can purchase Set Apart at your Pathway beginning September 22. You will find Set Apart in our video display with other great films, including Facing the Giants, Come What May, and another new release: The Lost and Found Family.

Category: Religion - Christian Life
Price: $24.99
Every one of us will experience suffering. Many of us are experiencing it now. As we have seen in recent years, evil is real in our world, present and close to each one of us.
In such difficult times, suffering and evil beg questions about God--Why would an all-good and all-powerful God create a world full of evil and suffering? And then, how can there be a God if suffering and evil exist?
These are ancient questions, but also modern ones as well. Atheists such as Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and even former believers like Bart Ehrman answer the question simply: The existence of suffering and evil proves there is no God...

How to Intentionally Change Your Life
It sounds so simple. “Just do one thing at a time.” “Make a list of what you need to accomplish.” “Get it done.” And you try. . . . But too soon, it becomes overwhelming, and you find yourself exactly where you were before—no closer to achieving your big-picture dreams and goals. But it doesn’t have to be that way! In The Power of One Thing, counselor and popular radio host Dr. Randy Carlson says that you can achieve a better life—starting today—by harnessing the power of just one thing that will help you toward your goals. In this book, you’ll find out which change is most important to you and can create the biggest payoff in your life. You’ll get practical tips from those who have already changed their lives using this plan. And you’ll see how your “one thing,” lived intentionally over time, will help you achieve the dreams you’d almost given up on.
What if one thing could change everything?
“I’m overwhelmed by debt. I need to be more intentional about my spending—and start saving.”
What one thing could you do today to start recovering financially?
“I want to go after my dream, but I’m terrified I don’t have what it takes. What if I fail?”
What one thing could you do today to begin developing your confidence?
“My spouse seems preoccupied and distant most of the time, and I’m starting to resent it.”
What one thing could you begin doing today to improve your relationship?

Fearless: New Book by Max Lucado
by Max Lucado
Imagine your life, wholly untouched by angst. What if faith, not fear, was your default reaction to threats? If you could hover a fear magnet over your heart and extract every last shaving of dread, insecurity, and doubt, what would remain? Envision a day, just one day, when you could trust more and fear less.
Can you imagine your life without fear?
Product Description:
Each sunrise seems to bring fresh reasons for fear.
They're talking layoffs at work, slowdowns in the economy, flare-ups in the Middle East, turnovers at headquarters, downturns in the housing market, upswings in global warming. The plague of our day, terrorism, begins with the word terror. Fear, it seems, has taken up a hundred-year lease on the building next door and set up shop. Oversized and rude, fear herds us into a prison and slams the doors. Wouldn't it be great to walk out?
- This timely book offers hope and calm in a time of unprecedented fear in our community and the world as we face downturns in the housing market, slowdowns in the economy, and job losses everywhere.
- Max delves deeply into our most unnerving threats—from running out of money to the terror of death—and shows us how to face them with faith, not fear.
- Focusing on Jesus’ encounters with people in frightening situations, Max draws from those stories evidence that we can trust God through these scary times.
- Readers will learn that they can fear less tomorrow than they do today.
New Kids Book by Max Lucado

An encouraging message for children: When you feel like you're the smallest of smalls, Jesus' love can make you feel like the tallest of talls.
A delightful rhyming story about the Too-Smalls who live in the Stiltsville. Every evening a six, the Too-Smalls meet in the square where they hope they'll be picked to receive stilts to strut about above the stilt-less masses below. They come to see if they matter-if they're awesome, if they're pretty, if they're clever, or funny. Ollie, the smallest of too-smalls, pleas to be picked. He wants to be like the high-ups of Stiltsville who are proud of their stilts, the ultimate status. But once he gets stilts, oh how it hurts when he stumbles and tumbles and loses his stilts. That is . . . until he meets Jesus who chose low over high telling him, "Keep your feet on the ground. You matter already."

Erik Morissey Ganger, famed explorer and detective (well, in his dreams), and his mischief-making sidekicks, twins Sadie and Saskia Dopple, didn’t go looking for a secret tunnel beneath the school. They never intended to make the acquaintance of a shifty private eye with a nose for trouble. It wasn’t part of the plan to come face to face with an old enemy, one with an agenda of his own that could destroy them all. And unraveling the “secret of indigo moon” was the farthest thing from their minds.
At Isambard Dunstan’s School for Wayward Children, these things just seem to happen.
In The Secret of Indigo Moon, confirmed troublemakers Erik, Sadie, and Saskia plunge headlong into a new and perilous mystery, one that challenges everything they thought they knew about their lives, themselves, and whom it’s safe to trust.

Book Review: One with a Shepherd
Being a new pastor’s wife, I am constantly looking for and reading materials on this subject. One with a Shepherd covers a wide range of topics related to being a pastor’s wife. It encourages, informs, and directs you to Scripture to help you as you serve along side your husband/pastor.
This is a good book for pastor’s wives but also for any women whose husband is in a “spotlight” position (school superintendent, public office, etc.)

Series: The Jesus Chronicles
By Tim LaHaye & Jerry Jenkins
These are “stand alone” books, and do not have to be read in order. They are not as action filled as the Left Behind series, but do have excellent historical accuracy and are interesting to read. Four books are planned in the series, one for each of the Gospel writers. LaHaye and Jenkins began the series with John’s story, since much of their work on the Left Behind series was based on the Book of Revelation which was also written by John.
Title: John’s Story: The Last Eyewitness
Author: Tim LaHaye & Jerry Jenkins
Age: Adult/Teen
Gender: Either
Summary: John’s Story, released in 2006 is the first of four books planned in the Jesus Chronicles historical fiction series. At age 90, John, the last of the original twelve apostles sets out to write a gospel to correct heretical teaching gaining popularity that alleges Jesus is not God’s son. He recounts Christ’s life and miracles from his perspective as a beloved disciple. He also tells the story of the early church and of his exile to Patmos, where he receives the revelation of end time events. The complete Bible books of John, I John, II John, III John, and Revelation are printed in the appendix of this book.
Title: Mark’s Story: The Gospel According to Peter
Author: Tim LaHaye & Jerry Jenkins
Age: Adult/Teen
Gender: Either
Summary: Mark’s Story, released in 2007 is the second of four books planned in the Jesus Chronicles historical fiction series.
