Heaven is the Face Single

Heaven is the Face Single
by Steven Curtis Chapman

Releases Sept 22nd

Overview
Beauty Will Rise is a collection of 12 new and profound songs from Steven Curtis Chapman. Created in the past 18 months in the walk through the darkness of the loss of his daughter Maria, and while God continues to meet him there on the journey. Part lament, part praise, part grief, part hope, part wrestling, part pondering; these tracks resonate as Steven’s personal Psalms. It is a desperately hopeful, raw, personal, and honest recording that is likely the most important of his already incredible 20 plus year ministry.

“Heaven Is The Face” is the first single serviced to Christian radio, and available as physical single in advance of the album, which releases on November 3rd.

Publishers Weekly, Review

Miller, the accidental memoirist who struck gold with the likable ramble Blue Like Jazz, writes about the challenges inherent in getting unstuck creatively and spiritually. After Jazz sold more than a million copies but his other books didn’t follow suit, he had a classic case of writer’s block. Two movie producers contacted him about creating a film out of his life, but Miller’s initial enthusiasm was dampened when they concluded that his real life needed doctoring lest it be too directionless for the screen. Real stories, he learned, require characters who suffer and overcome. In desultory fashion, Miller sets out to change his own life—to be the kind of guy who seeks out his father, chases the girl and undertakes a quest. Along the way, he comes to understand God as a master storyteller who doesn’t quite control where his characters are going. An unexpected bonus of this book is Miller’s insights into the writing process. Readers who loved Blue Like Jazz will find here a somewhat more mature Miller, still funny as hell but more concerned about making a difference in the world than in merely commenting on it. (Oct. 2009)

Full of beautiful, heart-wrenching, and hilarious stories, A Million Miles in a Thousand Years details one man's opportunity to edit his life as if he were a character in a movie.

Well-Known Actors Lead Set Apart
When you hear the names of successful actors, a certain key role usually comes to mind. For example, Richard Roundtree will always be associated with Shaft. For John Schneider, it's The Dukes of Hazzard. And for Jennifer O'Neill, it's her role in The Summer of '42.

Now, all three of these accomplished actors can be seen in a new movie coming to DVD on September 22, Set Apart. They were drawn in by the powerful, inspirational message of the script, which is based on real ministries run by brothers Randy and John Gunn.

"All the actors seemed truly appreciative to be part of the movie," says Randy Gunn, who plays himself in the movie. "They were all very professional and we learned quite a bit about the dos and don'ts of acting."

A Movie with a Purpose
So how do real-life ministries become a movie? Brad Wilson of Hemisphere Productions heard Randy and Heidi Gunn perform with their band GunnPoint at a Christian music festival. Hemisphere had just launched a new production arm called Power In Faith that was looking for ideas for great faith-based films.

After learning more about GunnPoint and its familial connection to the Power Company Kids Club, Power In Faith was intrigued. The potential for a film about the interaction of these two remarkable ministries could provide the material needed for an exciting and inspiring family film.

"The story they wanted to tell involved taking some troubled kids from the inner city and having us teach them the 'Cowboy Way,'" Randy says. "I told them about my brother John's ministry—the Power Company Kids Club—and what they do in the inner city."

From there, George Flynn, who has served with Randy and Heidi Gunn for years, wrote the script that became Set Apart. Now, the work of both ministries is about to be highlighted to movie fans everywhere!

Every one of us will experience suffering. Many of us are experiencing it now. As we have seen in recent years, evil is real in our world, present and close to each one of us.

In such difficult times, suffering and evil beg questions about God--Why would an all-good and all-powerful God create a world full of evil and suffering? And then, how can there be a God if suffering and evil exist?

These are ancient questions, but also modern ones as well. Atheists such as Richard Dawkins, Christopher Hitchens, and even former believers like Bart Ehrman answer the question simply: The existence of suffering and evil proves there is no God...

Title: Emily Makes a Difference
Author: JoAnn Grote
Series: Sisters in Time
Age: Tween and Young Teens
Gender: Female
Summary: I enjoyed the story immensely. Told of a family going to the Chicago Worlds Fair. Very well written. Kept the readers interest. Packed full of lots of history trivia. I would suggest parents to read the books in the series too and then have fun quizzing parents quizzing child and child quizzing parents on the historical facts that were interspersed within the story.

I connected to the story because as a child I was able to attend the New York Worlds Fair.

Book Review: Between Sundays

Title: Between Sundays
Author: Karen Kingsbury
Age: Teen-Adult
Gender: Either

Summary: Between Sundays is a compelling story of grace, redemption, forgiveness, faith, integrity, and hope. It spotlights the plight of foster kids who are turned loose by the system when they reach age 18. Set in San Francisco around the 49ers professional football team, the story shows that what is inside a man, what he does all week outside of the game, is what defines the man. The main characters are Aaron Hill, a gifted and likable quarterback, who is shallow and cavalier in his personal life; Derrick Anderson, back up quarterback in his last season, who wants to make good on a promise made to his dying son; Megan Gunn, a former foster child herself, who is trying to make a difference by volunteering at a teen center, working two jobs, and being a foster mom to her best friend's child; and 8 year old foster child Cory Briggs who tenaciously holds on to his dream of finding his father. Karen Kingsbury weaves an intriguing story while reminding us that we will not be remembered for out wins and losses, but for what we make of our lives between Sundays.
